Terrors

1-1

Chalfont St Peter

Wilson(2) , Morgan-Griffiths

(0-1)

With it being free to get in and a lovely warm afternoon there was a good-sized crowd at the Campus Society Stadium. The visitors had the first attack in the 4th minute when Charles Mitchell’s low drive was well kept out by Ethan Wady. At the

other end Danny Bassett who had scored in his previous six games had an effort cleared off the line. Chalfont would take the lead in the 29th minute when Adam Kirbyheaded into the roof of the net from a corner. Nine minutes later Hady Ghandour hada chance but couldn’t make contact. Just before the interval Saints keeper Michael Anguzu made a good stop from one of his own defenders.

It did not take the Terrors long to get back on even terms after the break when the impressive Ajani Domingo-Carrington cut in from the right beat a couple of players and curled a fine low strike past the keeper in the 51st minute. Midway through the

half Ismael Emui went close for Chalfont with a glancing header and the same playerfired just over with a fierce long-range effort. In a grandstand finish the visitors keeper Michael Anguzu made two brilliant saves to keep out goal-bound strikes from

David Carty and Stefan Ilic.

South Park

1-1

Terrors

(1-0)

Ghandour

Both teams came into the game needing a win for different reasons but neither got it as the sides played out a hard-fought draw on a very warm afternoon. South Park with former Tooting player Jay Lovett at the helm got the ideal start with a goal from

Charlie Pitcher after just six minutes when he latched onto a loose ball in the area and calmly slotted it past Ethan Wady. The only other chance of note in the half came in the 28th minute when the home sides Great Evans was through on goal but

his effort was blocked as was the rebound

The Terrors had hardly threatened in the first half but that was about to change in the second period as Tooting dominated for long periods. In the 59th minute South Park keeper Michael Eacott saved well from Stefan Ilic, but two minutes later United got a deserved equaliser when Ajani Domingo-Carrington made another of his superb runsdown the right and his cross was met by Hady Ghandour who powered home a closerange header. At the other end the home side had a rare chance when Ryan Healey headed just over from a free-kick. In the closing stages Tooting put on relentless pressure and looked to have won it in stoppage time when a Peter Wedgeworth free-kick was beaten out the ball found its way to Ajani Domingo-Carrington whose

precision cross found Lexus Beeden at the far post who jubilantly fired home to wild scenes only for the assistant’s flag to go up for a very tight offside decision.

2-1

FC Romania

Ghandour, Stewart

(0-0)

The Terrors ended their league campaign with a narrow 2-1 success against a spirited FC Romania side on a very blustery afternoon at the Campus Society Stadium. The visitors had the better of the opening half and had a good chance in the 5th

minute but Lawrence Neuruba could not hit the target when well placed.

Four minutes later they came close again when a header from Henry Mabassa thumped against the crossbar from a well flighted corner.  United had a couple of half chancesthrough Hady Ghandour and Danny Bassett neither of which tested the keeper.

—–––––––––––––––––—––—––––

After the break with the wind at their backs Tooting took control of the encounter and Daryl Coleman had a couple of efforts. It came as no surprise when Tooting took the lead in the 78th minute when Peter Wedgeworth made a fine run down the left flank and his precision cross was slotted home by Hady Ghandour from point blank range.Four minutes later we extended our lead when Daryl Coleman’s free-kick went in off Dontai Stewart who had only been on the field a matter of three minutes. FC

Romania reduced the arrears two minutes later when a cross from Cristi Iacob was parried into his own net by Ethan Wady. In stoppage time only a fine save low down by Adrian Darabant prevented Isaiah Jones from adding a third.

Summing up on a personal note I would like to thank the Management Team for their efforts and for all the hard work they have put in. They have built an excellent squad with some fine young players combined with some trusty experience which has seen an abundance of scouts in attendance at our games. Thanks to the players who have produced some very noteworthy displays and lastly our terrific fans for their continual support throughout the campaign you have been top drawer.

Tooting & Mitcham beat their tenants Tooting Bec 4-2 to lift the inaugural Tooting Trophy. Danny Bassett lobbed home in the 3rd minute and midway through the half Stefan Ilic hit the woodwork. Tooting Bec drew level after 37 minutes when they were

awarded a penalty which Morgan Campbell saved but the rebound was put away well. Four minutes later the Terrors were back in front through a good Danny Bassettgoal and right on half-time Dominic Morgan-Griffiths made it three with a wicked

curling effort. Early in the second period we added a 4th when a Daryl Coleman free-kick was chested home by Stefan Ilic. In the 85th minute Tooting Bec reduced the arrears with a close-range effort which their efforts deserved.

Surrey Senior Cup (Final Tie)

Terrors

0-2

Metroplitan Police

(0-2)

Despite dominating for long periods Tooting went down to a 2-0 defeat to the Met Police at Dorking Wanderers FC the home of the Surrey FA. The Final saw clear cut chances at a premium the Terrors only real effort of the first half came in the 20th minute when a swerving Danny Bassett shot went inches over. Met Police opened the scoring in the 42nd minute when Jordi Ndozid’s speculative long-range shot bounced over Ethan Wady into the net. It got worse for the Terrors just before the

break when we lost possession in the middle of our own half and man of the match Rhys King went onto score from an acute angle.

—–––––––––––––––––—––—––––

Met Police fashioned a good move seven minutes into the second off but Rudy Allen fired just over. United replied with a Danny Bassett cross-shot which just missed the target. Tooting then forced a series of corners and had a couple of free-kicks in

promising positions but could not get anything on target to test Thomas Williams in the Met goal. The Terrors kept battling away but it was not to be and there was no further scoring. Congratulations to the Met Police on lifting the County Cup, on what was a disappointing night for Tooting. As usual our fans were top drawer with their vocal support throughout the match.
