2-2

HT 0-0

Sawyer(p), Cox

Tooting left it until injury time before injecting any urgency into a match that had drifted away from them, despite once again facing ten men for the final minutes.

Another slow start from the Terrors did not produce a chance of note until the half hour mark when Kahn robbed Nwachukwu and fed Danny Summers, but his shot was sent tamely wide.  Both sides came close to opening the scoring just before the break. Sawyer, Cox and Summers combined well, but were thwarted for a corner before Welch put wide for the home side from close range.

-----------------------------------------------

A Frankie Sawyer breakaway beat the keeper, but not the crossbar, but it was Horsham who opened the scoring through an undefended free kick that provided Nwachukwu (fast becoming the new Gary Charman, in terms of scoring mandatory goals against us) with an uncontested header.

A Frankie Sawyer penalty cancelled out a lead that had lasted all of three minutes after Saidhu Khan was tripped on the receiving end of some rough treatment (it was he who won the penalty).  Tooting had taken control, coming closed to taking the lead when Bash Alimi had a close range shot acrobatically cleared off the line, but it was Horsham who again went in front, this time through a harmless looking speculative cross that left Badiali floundering as it sailed over his head into the net.

There is a nasty edge to Horsham under Anthony Storey and Cliff Cant, as anyone standing near their dugout will testify. But Nwachukwu was an unlikely candidate to be given his marching orders. Having been booked during an incident in which he was the innocent party, he then escaped punishment for a nasty tackle, only to lunge at Saidhu Khan moments later, receiving a second yellow as Khan was stretchered off - justice in an arse about face sort of way!

Seven minutes additional time, largely caused by the injury to Khan, were signalled and Tooting laid siege to the home goal. Man of the match Stefan Cox finally broke through with a powerful low shot from distance, but the Hornets managed to hang on to a precious, if slightly fortunate, point.

Surrey Senior Cup - Quarter Final

2-1

HT 1-0

Summers

A slow start, then a second half momentary glimpse of our opponents well funded Premier division class, was enough to cost Tooting a game that they dominated for long periods. Bobby Aspinall began his full debut with a superb stop from an early set piece, but was powerless to prevent the opening goal after just five minutes.

Danny Summers was at his marauding best all evening, forcing a flying save from the impressive Korzakis on twenty minutes and coming close twice more before the break, most notably with a glancing header from a Sol Pinnock cross that just evaded a post.

Ten minutes into the second half and Terrors had already hit the woodwork and forced Korzakis into finger tip saves from Pinnock and Sawyer, but a lighting breakaway with a clinical finish doubled the Not Police lead.

Summers pulled one back with a superb lob from distance, but minutes later it took a fine goal-line clearance form Joel Sebuliba to keep Tooting in the game. Saidu Khan again limped off towards the end and there was a welcome cameo return for Howard Newton, but the game drifted away into a subdued ending.

Cheadle

The Terrors returned to winning ways with an excellent display to blow away in form Walton Casuals despite going down to ten men just before half-time. Defender Sam Charles, recently arrived from Chipstead made his Tooting debut, whilst Saidu Khan was ruled out after limping off at Met Police.

We took the lead in the 4th minute with a fine individual goal from Stefan Cox but it would be a bitter sweet afternoon for our exciting winger. In the 16th minute we were awarded a penalty when Frankie Sawyer was felled by former Terror Quincy Rowe. Frankie slotted home the resultant spot kick. We increased our lead further in the  34th minute when Dan Summers received a pass from Billy Marshall and  scored one of the goals of the season curling home a fierce 30 yard drive and two minutes Dan nearly scored again with a cracking drive which brought a good save from the  Stags keeper. Bobby Aspinall was then called into action for the first time saving well from Billy Dunn.

The game turned sour in the 40th minute when an incident involving  Stefan Cox and former Tooting favourite Jordan Cheadle ended in Stefan getting a red card and Jordan was lucky only to get a yellow.

After the break Walton created a bit of pressure but we responded with a fourth goal with a bullet header from Dan Summers after a pin point cross from Sol Pinnock. In the 59th minute Jordan Cheadle reduced the arrears with one of his free-kick specials for the visitors and seven minutes later ex Terror Billy Dunn rattled our post. The remainder of the game saw us comfortable despite being one man down and the visitors provided no further threats. Mention must be made of our young keeper Bobby Aspinall who had a fine game.
