Hanwell Town  2-5  Terrors

New look Tooting roared back into form at second placed Hanwell on a thankfully dry afternoon - although the pitch was inevitably heavy. Dominic Morgan-Griffiths missed out through injury and there was a return for Antone Douglas in the back three.

Also in the starting line up was the remarkable sight of  a Sahnoun twin  on either flank, both played a big part in the move that lead to Dan Williams’ beautifully struck third minute opener.  Tootings front three of  Bassett, Cuulley and Williams ticked all the boxes, showing great speed, strength and skill throughout, but it was the engine room behind them, in the shape of Daryl Coleman, who struck next, powering through the middle of the park before firing low into the bottom corner of the net from distance.

Town battled back, but made little impression on goal until the half hour mark when George Ademiluyi, who had just replaced the injured Abdelah Sahnoun, was caught out, allowing Ogu Obi to blindside him and make it 2-1.  Ten minutes later and Williams had the chance to restore the two goal cushion when he collected  a long pinpoint through pass from Coleman to set up a one on one with the keeper , but this time the goalie won!

The combination of heavy conditions, committed players and not exactly top notch refereeing took its toll with the half time whistle not sounding until 4pm!

Half time :   Hanwell Town  1-2  Tooting & Mitcham United

Another long range clearance, this time a typically acrobatic one from Antone Douglas, found the energetic Williams in the penalty area ready to tee up Danny Bassett for another superb finish.  Hanwell continued to battle, again without making much of a dent in the visitors back line until  fifteen minutes from time (nearer half an hour in actuality) when they scored direct from  a free kick conceded by the otherwise outstanding Ermis Mezini.

Sniffing the possibility of what had looked like an unlikely point Hanwell advanced still further and almost succeeded in their mission on 90 minutes with two close range shots as Terrors frantically struggled to clear a corner. But the commitment left inevitable gaps at the back and the copious injury time allowance saw Danny Bassett fire a long ranger just wide. George Ademiluyi mopped up the resulting goal kick in his own half, releasing Williams secure the result with a confidence finish.  From the restart Klajdi Cani latched onto another long Douglas clearance, stepped around the left back and chalk up his first Tooting goal.

Team: Shaw, Daly, Coleman, Odusanya, Bassett, Williams, Douglas, Abdelah Sahnoun(Ademiluyi), Mezini, Abdel Sahnoun(Hamlin), Cully(Cani).   Not uses: Ilic, Gitau-Eneremadu
