London Senior Cup - Semi Final

1-0

Khan

HT 1-0

Tooting made it through to the London Senior Cup Final with a narrow victory over Cray Valley who had two players sent off late in the game . We dominated the early stages and scored what proved to be the winning goal in the 5th minute when Saidou Khan scored with a fierce shot after a free flowing move had set him up. The visitors only real chance of the night came in the 8th minute when Luke Badiali had to make a good save to keep out a effort from  Ben Healy. Ten minutes later we had a chance to double our lead but Dan Summers was unable to control the ball when well placed and midway through the half Cray keeper Steve Sutton made a great double block to foil Dan Summers and Nathan Gordon.

---------------------------------------------------------------

After the break chances were at a premium the nearest we came to adding a second was when Sol Pinnock had a effort cleared off the line in the 48th minute. Twelve minutes from time the visitors had a chance when a shot from Alex Chambers was goal-bound but Harry Knock managed to clear the danger. In the closing stages Cray had James Hawkins sent off for two yellows and their keeper was shown a straight red after a foul on Tinashe Nkoma.

Team: Luke Badiali, Joel Sebuilba, Nathan Gordon,  David Graves, Harry Knock, Francis Quarm, Howard Newton(Tinashe Nkoma), Billy Marshall, Dan Summers, Saidou Khan, Sol Pinnock(Alex Filipe). Other subs Troy Williams, Bobby Aspinall.

2-2

Sawyer, Knock

HT 1-1

The Terrors left it very late to get an equaliser and stop Redhill completing a league double over ourselves. We started well and carved out three chances in the first 15 minutes Frankie Sawyer going close twice and Lewis Gonsalves had a header from a Sol Pinnock free-kick brilliantly saved by visitors keeper Michael Hunter. The Lobsters replied with a shot across the face of goal by man of the match Tyrone Pink and Pink saw another cross turned into the net by Eden Dewer-Douglas who was in an offside position. We took the lead in the 45th minute when Frankie Sawyer latched on a through ball from the impressive Billy Marshall and scored with a low shot past Michael Hunter. However just as it looked like we would go into the break in front Redhill went down the other end and Nathan Gordon brought down Tyrone Pink in the area and Pink stepped up to convert the kick past our debutant keeper Alex Kozakis.

--------------------------------------------

Four minutes into the second half Billy Marshall went on a fine solo run and Hunter again made a good stop. On the hour the visitors went in front when a Ross Morley corner was headed home by ex Terror Connor French. We replied with a cross-cum shot from Sol Pinnock which hit the post. In the 75th minute Redhill  had a chance to go further ahead when a corner found Shaun Loft who blasted wide. In the 81st minute Frankie Sawyer found himself in the clear but fired wide. With there being seven minutes stoppage time mainly due to an injury to David Graves we pressed for an equaliser but just as it seemed it would not come it did when Harry Knock headed home a Billy Marshall corner at the far post to break Redhill hearts. A below par performance from the team but they kept battling away to the dying seconds to grasp a point. Missing from our side were Bashuri Alimi injured and Stefan Cox and Luke Badiali suspended. Mark Hams made a return to Imperial Fields as a member of the visitors management team.

Team: Alex Kozakis, Sam Charles, Nathan Gordon, David Graves(Saidou Khan), Lewis Gonsalves, Harry Knock, Francis Quarm(Howard Newton), Billy Marshall, Dan Summers, Frankie Sawyer, Sol Pinnock. Other subs Joel Sebuilba, Troy Williams, Tinashe Nkoma.

1-1

Newton

HT 0-1

Wilson-Dennis

Honours were even in this Ryman League clash as they were in the previous meeting earlier in the campaign. The visitors included ex Terrors Danny Bracken, Lee Hall, Jamie Byatt and Carl Wilson-Denis in their line-up and they all had good games. The first chance in the match fell to Jamie Byatt who rattled our post but was adjudged offside. Casuals opened the scoring in the 28th minute when Carl Wilson- Denis received a ball just inside the box and scored with a neat finish. Our first shot of note came after 35 minutes when Danny Bracken saved well from Saidou Khan.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It took us just five minutes into the second period to draw level when Dan Summers had a shot saved and Saidou Khan following up seemed to be fouled but the ref played a good advantage and Howard Newton who was enjoying a fine game swept the loose ball home. Five minutes later we could have won it when midfield dynamo Billy Marshall had a effort pushed over. In the 67th minute Casuals sub Max Austin went close his shot from a corner being saved by Alex Kozakis. We nearly stole the points in the closing stages but Danny Bracken was on hand to save a Nathan Gordon cross shot. It was good to see Lee Noble come on as sub in the second half after his injury problems and he did not disappoint making some good runs down  the left wing.

Team: Alex Kozakis, Sam Charles, Nathan Gordon, David Graves, Harry Knock, Francis Quarm, Howard Newton(Max Noble), Billy Marshall, Dan Summers, Saidou Khan(Gerald Akosa), Sol Pinnock. Other subs T Nkoma, Joel Sebuliba, Lewis Gonsalves.

1-1

Summers, OG

HT 0-1

The ball of energy that is Sol Pinnock eclipsed all around him on Saturday, setting up both Tooting goals, but two poorly defended set pieces denied Tooting maximum points.

Danny Summers converted a Pinnock cross to provide an unlikely half time lead as both sides struggled to settle.  Gerald Akosa, recently signed from Billericay, made his first start, but saw little of the ball on the right wing and was relpaced by Saidou Khan.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Within six minutes of the restart Hythe were level with a close range nod in from a corner. Danny Summers turned provider for Pinnock, but keeper Hayward easily dealt with the threat. Tooting turned up the heat on the hour mark with Summers denied by a post after Howard Newtons shot bounced back of a defender. A few minutes later it needed three men on the Town goal line to scramble the ball away for a corner following a series of close range attempts by most of the Terrors forwards.

Hythe were far from out of it and gave the Terrors defence a few scares, not least of which came from a free kick, conceded by Gonsalves, that gave Alex Kozakis the chance to warm his fingertips on what was a bitterly cold afternoon.

A draw seemed the most likely, and indeed fitting result until deep into stoppage time when Sol Pinnock fired a fine free kick into the danger area where it was met by the unfortunate Sean Welford, who’s powerful header flew straight past his own keeper to give Tooting an apparent victory.  However, the much travelled Welford clearly thought differently as, moments later, he was on the end of another free kick, this time at the other end of the pitch, but scoring a much less spectacular equaliser.

The Bog Enders were in fine voice throughout, giving the game a bit of much needed atmosphere.

Team: Alex Kozakis, Joel Sebuliba, Nathan Gordon, David Graves, Lewis Gonsalves(Bashiru Alimi). Francis Quarm, Gerald Akosa(Saidou Khan), Harry Knock, Dan Summers,  Howard Newton(Leon Lalor-Dell), Sol Pinnock. Other subs Max Noble, Bobby Aspinall(gk)
