Ryman South

4-1

Honours were even as Chipstead came from two goals down to force a draw. Chances were at a premium in the first half we did get the ball in the net early on but it was clearly offside. Chipstead had the only real chances in the half with Stefan Joseph forcing a good save from Paul Smith and Dan Moody fired just over.

Half-Time     Tooting & Mitcham United   0      Chipstead   0

Two minutes after the break we went in front when Max Noble  curled in a shot from just outside the area after good work by Cecil Jee and a minute later Max scored again with a low strike which went under the keepers body. In the 58th minute Chipstead pulled a goal back when Carlton Murray-Price cut in from the left and fired under Paul Smith.

On the hour we reduced to ten men when skipper Francis Quarm was shown a straight red card. In the 68th minute Paul Smith produced a fantastic save to keep out a Stefan Joseph header and from the resultant corner Stefan Tomasevic headed inches wide. However the visitors were not to be denied and in the 84th minute got back on level terms with a fine cross-shot from Dan Moody to earn themselves a share of the spoils.

London Senior Cup

1-1

Lost 7-8 on Penalties

Tooting went out of the London Senior Cup on penalties after an evenly fought encounter finished 1-1 after normal time. We took the lead after just four minutes when a corner was cleared as far as Zenio Aiken-Simon who fired into the roof of the net from 25 yards. A minute later Cray should have levelled but Paul Gross blasted over from close range. In the 14th minute Terrors keeper Harvey Cheadle made a brilliant full length save to deny the visitors an equaliser, we then lost skipper Francis Quarm who limped off with a leg injury. Harvey Cheadle then made another great save getting down low to push an effort around the post. At the other end Cecil Jee had a shot well saved by Bobby Sturgeon and Max Noble skimmed the post. Right on half-time Tyrus Gordon-Young shot across the face of goal when well placed for Cray.

Half-Time     Tooting & Mitcham United   1      Cray Valley   0

Just after the break Sol Pinnock was unlucky when he headed against the post following a cross from Cecil Jee. Jordan Cheadle then went close with a couple of free-kicks one producing a wonder save by Bobby Sturgeon. Just after the hour Cecil Jee had the ball in the net but the goal was ruled out for  offside.  Cray then put on a lot of pressure and in the 79th minute  drew level when former Terror Laurent Hamici scored a good goal and three minutes from time Hamici could have won the game  in normal time but headed just wide. With there being no extra-time it was straight to penalties and the first ten were all converted superbly so it went to sudden death. Eventually someone had to miss and sadly for us it was Zenio Aitken-Simon who saw his fierce spot-kick crash against the bar. Both teams deserve credit for a good attacking game on a cold night and we wish Cray Valley well in the semi-final.

Team: Harvey Cheadle, Josh Turner, Malachi Robinson, Bashiru Alimi, Jordan Cheadle, Colin Hartburn, Zenio Aitken-Simon, Francis Quarm(JordanBinns), Cecil Jee(Tinashe Nkoma), Sol Pinnock, Max Noble. Other subs Troy Williams, Harry Knock, Paul Smith.

Ryman South

3-1

Tootings wretched away form continued on a sunny afternoon in Kent.  Despite the weather worries of the previous evening the pitch passed a 10:30 inspection and was in good nick - unlike the Terrors defence that survived a couple of early scares before a 20th minute slip by Colin Hartburn allowed was capitalised on by Town.

From then on neither side showed much in the way of initiative until just before the interval Tooting were again caught napping and conceded a second via a header from a free kick.

Half-Time     Faversham Town 2 - 0  Tooting & Mitcham United

Frankie Sawyer provided a brief spell of hope by tapping home a fine Pinnock cross, but the revival was abruptly halted fifteen minutes from time with the dismissal of Nathan Gordon for two, both rather harsh, cautions. Terrors refused to lie down and tried to push forward, despite the numerical disadvantage, but this is always a risky business and the price was duly paid through an other header following a move down Tootings depleted left flank.

Team: Smith; Turner, Gordon, Alimi, Cheadle, Hartburn, Williams(Robinson), Knock, Pinnock, Sawyer(Aitken-Simon), Noble(Jee)

Other subs H Cheadle.

Ryman South

2-0

Tooting secured their first win of 2014 on a Freezing evening at the KNK.

After a bright opening 5 minutes from the Terrors the first half petered out into a bit of a non event with neither side able to obtain the upper hand with the only action of note being midway through the period when a Frankie Sawyer strike forced the Three Bridges 'keeper to tip the ball over the cross bar.

This meant that when the real action finally came in a 3 minute Tooting burst just before the interval, by which time many of the lowly 115 attendance had already retired to the bar for some half time refreshment. The game suddenly sprung to life though in the 43rd minute when Bash Alimi turned in a Nathan Gordon free kick from the left and then in the final minute of the half Nathan Gordon turned goal scorer, driving into the lefthand side of the Bridges penalty area before striking a fierce shot into the roof of the net.

Half-Time     Tooting & Mitcham United   2 - 0 Three Bridges

A tatctical change by Three Bridges at the interval saw them take the game to Tooting far more during the second period however Paul Smith in goal was rarely troubled and with the Terrors unable to recreate any of the spark that resulted in the first half goals, the score remained 2-0.

Team: Smith, Turner, Gordon, Alimi, Cheadle, Hartburn, Williams, Knock Pinnock, Sawyer, Noble Subs Jee, Robinson, Aitken-Simon, Nkoma, H Cheadle.
