Ryman South

3-1

Tootings away form continues to frustrate as they were sunk on a gluepot of a pitch at the Kent coast. Two route one goals from long throws did the damage, but it was a pearl of a shot early in the second half that finally holed Terrors below the water line.

Terrors fell behind when they failed to defend a 9th minute long throw from their left flank which was helped in by a glancing front post header. Just before the half hour it was another header that provided the equaliser by Bashir Alimi from a free kick.

Despite the testing conditions the game maintained a good tempo and Terrors nearly took the lead shortly before the break through Nathan Simpson, who had bounded down the flank and tested the home keeper. However within two minutes the home side replicated their earlier aerial assault to snatch a half time lead.

Half Time: Herne Bay 2-1 Terrors

Five minutes in and a fizzing 25 yard strike by Danny Walder doubled the lead.  Tooting battled to find a way back but, apart from a powerful snapshot from Franis Quarm could make little headway against the now defensively minded Bay.

4-1

Tooting produced a fine display to take the points at a wet and windy KNK Stadium although the pitch was in fantastic condition as always thanks to our excellent groundsman  Ric. The visitors had the first chance of the game in the opening minute when Josh Burchell saw his glancing header go just wide. We went in front in the 6th minute when a Frankie Sawyer corner was headed back across goal by Josh Turner for Bashuri Alima to fire home. Frankie then had a effort ruled out by a marginal offside decision and Colin Hartburn had a point blank range shot brilliantly saved by Town keeper Dan Eason. In the 39th minute we extended our lead from the penalty spot after the dangerous Max Noble was brought down in the area. Frankie Sawyer thumping home the resultant spot-kick. Two minutes later it was 3-0 when Frankie Sawyer converted a Josh Turner cross.

Half-Time     Tooting & Mitcham United   3      Hythe Town   0

After the break James Morrish went close for Hythe and the visitors reduced the arrears in the 56th minute when after several deflections Shaun Welford got the final touch to make it 3-1. We sealed our win in the 77th minute with a cracking goal,  Max Noble cut in from the left beating several defenders before firing into the roof of the net from a acute angle. This was our third home league win on the trot and we have won five of our last six league matches at the KNK. Well done to the team and staff and a lovely Christmas present for our loyal fans.

Peacehaven come from behind to take the points in a eight goal thriller at the KNK Stadium. Tooting took the lead in the 3rd minute when a Frankie Sawyer corner found its way to Sol Pinnock who stabbed home. The next chance came in the 26th minute when Sawyer burst through the visitors defence forcing Antony di Bernado to save well.

We doubled our advantage after 37 minutes when the referee played a good advantage and Frankie Sawyer went on to score with a real blockbuster a contender for goal of the season.

The Sussex side had not really threatened in the opening half but got a lifeline on the stroke of half-time when Tom Burton scored.

Half-Time     Tooting & Mitcham United  2 -1     Peacehaven & Telscombe

A minute after the break we extended our lead when Frankie Sawyer scored another excellent goal with a fierce low drive from just outside the box. At this point it looked like we might beat be the league leaders so well were we playing but Peacehaven had other ideas subjecting us to relentless pressure. Paul Smith was called into action making two brave saves at the feet of Charlie Walker and Tom Burton and then Peacehaven hit the underside of the bar. However in the 68th minute Craig Richards headed home from a free-kick to make it 3-2 and five minutes later it was 3-3 when Tom Lawley scored a well worked goal.

With Josh Jones having a fine game on the left flank for Telscombe  our defence was under constant pressure and in the 68th minute the visitors leading scorer Charlie Walker turned in a cross from the left to put Peacehaven in front for the first time and five minutes later Walker converted another chance to take the game out of our reach. We tried to come back with Max Noble making some good  surging runs and Jordan Cheadle fired just over with one of his specials but it was not to be. Our team deserve credit for pushing the league leaders all the way but full marks to the visitors who came from two goals down to show why they are top of the league with some fine attacking play.
